Course description- Health matters

health-food-supplimentHEALTH MATTERS-A class offering health and hygiene education, and instruction on healthy choices. Through further education, each student begins to understand the effect of culture, family, and individual preference in our attitudes toward health, food, and exercise. Strategies that are  woven throughout this curriculum include: self-determination, self-efficacy, self-advocacy, individual rights, along with interpersonal relationships,  effective communication and safety. The curriculum is adapted to meet the unique needs and capacities of each individual. This class will shift the  paradigm from a medically oriented focus to an emphasis on empowerment, with the knowledge that everyone regardless of disability, has the right to live a healthy lifestyle in the community.
Taught on a weekly basis for 2 hours by Susanne Sproll, BSN, RN and a co-worker assistant.
